How is a product born in a product company?

Certainly, the founders, employees, or partners of Fram have their own vision of how products should look. It's either the realization of their own experience or the anticipation of future needs. However, often the product is born from our customers, who come with specific requirements. Typically, these are people with a clear understanding of what they want and for what purpose.

The development of custom products or modifications to existing products kickstart new products for Fram-Equipment. Often, these are things that are not available on the mass market. Or it's functionality not yet realized in well-known items.

That's why we take on individual orders that can slightly enhance or alter our basic models. This led to the creation of the Talung 60l backpack for the gold-ice climbing expedition to the mountain of the same name. Or the Talung DCF 40-60l for ascents on K2 and Peak Pobeda. The Tempo 50l was modified into the expeditionary Osh 85l. The more durable WBizon gloves were created from the lightweight Broad series.

We are happy to collaborate with people who come to us with such individual requests. Because it's these people who move the world forward. And they create extraordinary events. That's the thought.

The most sensible and useful product is the one a person is willing to pay for. For us, this may not always cover the costs of developing a serial product. But it's an important indicator of demand. And often, these are our successful products in the series.

Sometimes a person comes with a free idea in exchange for a free product for themselves. But almost all such products did not have demand in the market afterward. Capitalism is ruthless :)

There are times when a product is created from scratch for a specific customer. These are the same bivouac backpacks. They don't always turn into a serial model. More often after 2-3 similar requests. And several years of testing. This is how it happened with the Kazbek ZIP gaiters, created for winter ascents to Tetnuldi and Kazbek. And they made it into the series after a season on Lenin Peak.

Can products be created solely based on market research? Yes. Most brands do it that way. But our path, it seems, historically developed from the customer's needs.

That's why we love them! Extraordinary people create extraordinary events and things!
