A philosophy born in expeditions
The philosophy of Fram-Equipment was born from expeditions we carried out. It is a strong focus on performance and gear that works where even the smallest mistake can be extremely costly.
In the heart of the Pamirs — no room for error
In 2015, we organized an expedition to the very heart of the Pamirs — a 250-kilometer journey through completely uninhabited high-mountain terrain. The nearest place where it was possible to meet people (and it was not even a road) was at least seven days away. A helicopter, if needed, most likely would not come at all.
A route pushed to the limits
We crossed around ten technical passes and completed a traverse of Mount Ismail Somoni (7,495 m). In total, this meant more than ten nights above 6,000 meters and three nights above 7,000 meters.
One of the most remote places on Earth
The upper reaches of the Bivachny Glacier are among the most isolated high-mountain areas in the world. In any direction, more than 20 kilometers of broken glaciers extend across the landscape.
Full autonomy
There are no high-altitude porters in the Pamirs, and creating supply caches is practically impossible. Even a 24-day autonomous section requires carrying all food and equipment yourself.
How it shaped our gear
This experience shaped our approach to equipment: sub-1 kg backpacks that work as both 40L summit packs and 100L expedition loads; windproof clothing; reliable insulation with accessories; and gaiters as a key high-altitude solution.
Gear organization
We used lightweight bags for gear, first aid kits, and food. At the center of the system was a four-season tent-shutter large enough for the whole team.
The team
Ten people took part — a strong team of three women and seven men with extensive shared expedition experience.
The highest-altitude corporate ascent
Anastasia Volkova (founder), Nadiia Starikova (production director), and Oleksii Kelin (CEO) reached the summit of Ismail Somoni (7,495 m). Later, Sasha Pavlov joined Fram as a partner, and Mykola Stukalo worked in the team as a developer. All equipment from this expedition became the foundation of Fram-Equipment product lines.
